Earlier this month the union representing council chief executives demanded the same pay award for its members as others in local government, warning that chiefs’ pay had fallen in real terms by 40%. The amount is a result of increasing the amount of ยฃ9.93 for 2023/24 by the percentage increase in the retail index.
